Tax Credit for Teacher Expenses

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) offers a tax credit for school teachers’ out-of-pocket spending on classroom supplies.

Teachers can claim a refundable income tax credit for up to $275 in spending on teacher supplies or materials.

How to Apply for the Teacher Tax Credit

When teachers file their South Carolina Individual Income Taxes using the SC 1040, they can use line 22 on the top of the third page to claim this credit. Teachers will also need to complete an I-360, available on the SCDOR’s website.
